ReadySet builds a personalized emergency plan for your household. This page explains what that requires us to know, why, who can see it, and how you stay in control of it.
What we collect
Only what could change your emergency plan:
- Your name and phone number, and your Telegram account identifiers (so we can message you)
- Your address and, if you choose to share it, your current location
- Household members, their relationship to you, and whether each can evacuate independently
- Functional needs described in your own words — mobility, power-dependent equipment, refrigeration, extra time to leave
- Animals in your household, including service animals
- Transportation access — vehicles, wheelchair-accessible or paratransit needs
- One emergency contact's name, relationship, and phone number
Everything is shared through an ordinary Telegram conversation. Nothing requires a form.
What we deliberately do not collect
- Diagnoses or medical history
- Medication dosages
- Medication names — unless you give us one yourself so we can help you find a refill during an evacuation
- Insurance or financial details
If a conversation drifts toward any of this, ReadySet is built to record only what it needs (for example: "needs power for medical equipment") and leave the rest out.
Why we collect it
Your address lets ReadySet determine whether an actual incident reaches your home — not just your city. Household and needs information lets a plan account for who actually has to get out, not a generic household. Your emergency contact is only ever notified with your explicit permission.
Who can see it
- You, any time — ask "show me my profile" in Telegram for a full readout
- Emergency management staff for your specific city or county, and only if they have been individually granted resident-detail access — this is off by default even for staff who can otherwise manage incidents
- ReadySet platform administrators, for operating and supporting the service
We never sell your data, and we never use it for advertising. An official message from your local agency is delivered to you word for word — ReadySet does not rewrite it, and the agency does not see your household detail through that message.
Telegram
ReadySet talks to you through the Telegram Bot API. Telegram's own privacy policy governs your Telegram account and the messaging layer itself; this policy covers what ReadySet does with what you tell it.
How long we keep it
Your household record is kept for as long as you're registered. If an incident ever affects you, the plan we generate is kept as a permanent, unaltered safety record — plans are never edited or deleted after the fact, only superseded by a newer version. If you delete your account, that record is stripped of anything that identifies you; see our Data Deletion Policy for exactly what happens.
Your rights
At any time, in Telegram: ask what ReadySet has on you, tell it what to correct, or say "delete my account" to remove your data entirely. None of this requires contacting anyone.
Security
Data is stored in a managed Postgres database with row-level access control. Only the application and authorized staff for your specific jurisdiction can reach it — nothing is publicly readable.
Not 911
ReadySet is not 911 or emergency dispatch. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
